Free Health Expo in Linden on March 21 Offers Cancer Screenings, Blood Drive, and Family Resources for Columbus Residents

COLUMBUS A free health expo for families is coming to the Linden neighborhood next Saturday, offering blood drives, cancer screenings, cooking demonstrations, and community resources all in one place.

The Black Family Wellness Expo runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the Linden Community Center at 1350 Briarwood Avenue on Columbus’s Northeast Side. The event is free and open to the public. On-site parking is available.

The expo is organized by the Columbus Chapter and Twin Rivers Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a national nonprofit organization of women focused on health, education, and civic engagement.

What Will Be There

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on site. The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is bringing a mobile mammography unit for breast cancer screenings.

Families can also take part in healthy cooking demonstrations, fitness activities, and browse tables with community health resources and giveaways.

Educational sessions during the event will cover gun violence prevention, mental health awareness, nutrition, opioid misuse prevention, domestic violence awareness, and infant safe sleep education.

Free Childcare Available

Free childcare will be offered through Social Sitters during the event. Parents who want to use the childcare service must register their children in advance through the event’s Eventbrite page.
