COLUMBUS, Ohio A former Columbus high school teacher has pleaded guilty to sex-related offenses involving a 15-year-old student, according to Franklin County court records.
Jamelah Daboubi, 28, formerly employed at Horizon Science Academy, entered the plea in February in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.

She pleaded guilty to amended charges of gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor
Investigation Began with Police Call
The case began April 2, 2025, when officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to a home on Salado Creek Drive on the city’s northeast side.
A guardian reported finding her 15-year-old nephew in a vehicle with one of his teachers, prompting the investigation.
Authorities later determined Daboubi and the student had communicated extensively over several months, including hundreds of phone calls and thousands of text messages.
Employment Action and Charges
Daboubi was terminated from her teaching position shortly after her arrest, according to available records.
Prosecutors said the charges were amended as part of the plea agreement.
The resolution of this case comes as Columbus residents remain focused on child safety, following recent Columbus Teacher Suspended After Taking Students Out of Class During Anti-ICE Walkout.
Sentencing Pending
The offenses carry a potential sentence of up to 18 months in prison.
Court records indicate a recommendation for five years of community control, along with counseling, community service, and surrender of her teaching license.
Daboubi is also required to register as a Tier II sex offender.
A sentencing hearing scheduled last week was continued. A new date has not been announced.
