Two Injured in Southeast Columbus Shooting, Both Expected to Survive

COLUMBUS, Two people were shot Thursday night on the city’s Southeast Side, and both are expected to survive, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. in the 5600 block of Xebec Drive, near Winchester Lakes Boulevard. Officers responded after reports of gunfire and found two victims in different areas.

One victim had gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The second victim had more serious injuries and was listed in critical condition Thursday night. Police said Friday morning the victim’s condition had improved.

Investigators said both victims are now expected to survive.

Police secured the area as detectives began collecting evidence and speaking with neighbors. The Columbus Police Felony Assault Unit is leading the investigation.

No suspect information has been released, and police have not said what led to the shooting.

Officers are asking anyone who saw what happened or has camera footage from the area to come forward.
